A 55-year-old female presented with worsening shortness of breath, indigestion, and
upper abdominal pain over the past few weeks. She had had symptoms of gastroesophageal
reflux disease for many years that were well-controlled with esomeprazole. However,
over the past month, her symptoms significantly worsened, and she began developing
concomitant left upper quadrant and epigastric pain along with severe dyspnea on exertion
to the point that she would have to stop several times when speaking long sentences
to catch her breath.
